[ There is a delivery of food outside of the door when they come back one day mid-October, packed in a crate full of jars and wrapped foods. On the top is a note: ]
To kindly resident of the Lake,
For your winter stores, I have prepared this food for you to keep before the snows come. Whilst we have a glut of food at present, it is best to keep this in the case that should we be trapped inside your house, you can rely on this food to help you see through until the thaw frees any blocked roads back to town.
I hope you find it suitable and that it keeps you well.

Ah, so if you follow the invisible wall even once the road curves up toward the town, there's a line of metal boxes on wheels. There are quite a few of these in one of them.
Dangerous how? Is it something we could employ against the general fuckeries that come for us in this place?
Okay, good. You found the same stash I did. At least there's no more of it.
I won't say it's impossible that we couldn't find use for it one day, but something that's radioactive really messes up our bodies. It can make us deathly ill or ruin our organs. I'm not an expert or anything but I know I want to find somewhere to put that stuff that isn't a train car.
Spoken like a man who has never once in his life taken a risk in the name of innovation.
BUT seeing as I haven't the slightest clue what angry sludge might be weaponized into (yet), you can rest assured that my organs will stay as they are for the time being.
(Or at least that any ruining of them won't be accomplished by the sludge.)

Okay, I didn't. My point is, the stuff is bad news and we shouldn't mess with it.
